Lift, 2018
Magnolia Leaves, bamboo, and nylon sutures.
(8 x 8 x 24 inches)
Resembling the stitches of cosmetic procedures, ‘Lift’ imposes a contorted form. According to the Society of Plastic Surgeons, cosmetic procedures tripled in the US in the last ten years to 1.8 million in 2018 alone. Using freshly fallen and collected leaves, ‘Lift’ continues to change and evolve despite its unnatural constraints. Animating the phases of change through both the destructive nature on the surface and the constructed nature of the new form it inhabits.
